Yes, unfortunately nail fungus organisms can spread – from toe to toe, or person to person – and they rarely go away by themselves. The organisms that cause nail fungus infection are all around us, in: • Clothing (especially shoes and socks) • Yards • Gyms • Towels When you stub a toe, crack a toenail, even trim the nail too closely – in fact, do anything that breaks the protective surface of the nail – you are susceptible to a nail fungus invasion. |
